Law Enforcement and Public Safety is for you

This program focuses on career opportunities in law and law enforcement. students will learn about the career opportunities, training, and opportunities for advancement in law enforcement and public safety. course content will focus on basic procedures and techniques of police science, age appropriate demonstrations of law enforcement techniques, and units relating to police officers as "first responders." students will also learn how law enforcement is governed and administered, as well as entry level career preparation and training requirements. This program may also include units of instruction that identify the law enforcement and police roles as they relate to both the criminal justic system and the corrections system. Course curriculum will be articulated with the law enforcement programs at Black Hawk College and Western Illinois University.

Employment Outlook

Renewed national interest in public safety and security should help expand opportunities for employment in Law and Public Safety. Numerous job openings will stem from employment growth attributable to the desire for increased corporate, industrial, and homeland security. Also, a more security-conscious society and concern about drug-related crimes should contribute to the increasing demand.
