UT will be participating in the 24th annual US Marine Corps Toys For Tots and Winter clothing drive for “UT Cares” & “The Oasis.” This year over 3,800 families have registered for assistance, which translates to over 12,668 children who would not have a toy under the tree without your gracious donations. You can help one of these less fortunate children by donating a new unwrapped toy; simply drop it off in Mr. Burklund’s room at 259N or in the General Office before Thursday December 12th. Two evening field trips open to all UT students to the Toys For Tots Distribution Center are planned for Thursday December 5th and Thursday December 12th, but space is limited to only “25” students per night; pick up permission slips in 259 north. If you know of a family who may be in need help this Christmas they will need to register at the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots Distribution center located in the old Kone Headquarters in Moline, Registration ends December 7th.
You can also help out the less fortunate of East Moline by donating Winter Clothing for the “UT Cares” & “The Oasis.” store located in the old Saint Mary’s School in East Moline; “The Oasis” collects furniture, clothing and household goods and offers it to any needy family free of charge; they are open Friday 10am-3pm, and Saturday 10am-1pm. They are in need of any size new or lightly used clean winter clothing such as Winter Coats, Boots, Gloves, Hats, Sweaters, Sweatshirts, Jeans, t-shirts, but they are in desperate need of children’s winter coats. You can drop off all clothing donations in the General Office or 259 North until the end of the semester.
