WQAD News 8 invites students to honor an outstanding educator by submitting a short essay for the My Favorite Teacher Contest. Five winners will be featured on WQAD in March/April 2026. Entry Window is open now through Feb. 8, 2026. GUIDANCE:

Students, this week: Black Hawk College will visit UT tomorrow during Period 3; the ISAC rep, Ms. Eden DeTombe, will visit UT on Wednesday from 9 - 11:30 to help with the FAFSA; and, Friday, the U.S. Air Force will be at UT in the Commons area during all three lunch periods. 

Sign up in the Counseling Office to visit with Black Hawk College and ISAC. See your school counselor or Mr. Davis with questions.  

SPORTS:

Congratulations to the speech team as they competed in two tournaments this weekend! Your Panther swept the competition and came in first at the Galena Virtual tournament with the following tournament champions: Amy Anderson (three events), Conner Clancy, Gracie Pfaff (two events), and Abrar Sherif. Many of our varsity students traveled to the Downers Grove South Varsity Invitational for a two-day tournament. Semifinalists were Gracie Pfaff in Original Comedy and Amy Anderson in Poetry. Amy Anderson and Conner Clancy broke out of semifinals to next-in finals and placed 12th overall. We have one more tournament before the State Series, so wish your Speech Team luck!

CLUBS:

Attention students! P7 will be meeting again this Friday, January 30th at 7:20 in 251N, Mrs. Pueblas room! Come for food, games, and fun!

Multicultural Club is hosting a Black History Month Door Decorating Contest. Deadline for completion is Friday, February 6. Please see the flyers around school for details. Judging will occur on February 17. Prizes will be given to second period class winners. 

H.O.P.E. Club will be meeting this Wednesday, January 28, at 3:15pm in room 189V.

Calling all Juniors interested in joining the PROM committee. As a member of the committee you will be involved in choosing this year's theme, all aspects of planning, managing the budget, decorating and clean-up, ticket sales and more. Sign up in the counseling office and join us for the first meeting on Wednesday, January 28, at 7:15am in the Special Services Conference room located in the counseling office.
